Field Trip
FIELD TRIP REPORT
Our field trip was a very memorable one for all of us which happened on 21st Dec 2021. We named this one day trip "Itvara" meaning traveler in Sanskrit. We gathered in our campus at around 8:00 am. Most of us joined from the starting point itself, some of the students from our class joined from different places on our way to Neyyar Dam. Started off from the college at 8;30am with the guidance and company of our teachers, By 10:00am we reached our first destination Higher Secondary School Neyyar Dam.
To become a successful teacher he/she should be a good observer and listener and since we are the future teachers we all made it a point to visit the Higher Secondary School Neyyar Dam. The school was established in 1954 and it is managed by the Department of Education. The HM Sreelatha ma'am and other teachers were kind enough to spend some valuable time with us.
We alongwith our teachers had planned to provide the students with study materials like books ,pencil ,pen etc. . Nazeer sir of our college gave the presidential address and the the HM Smt.Sreelatha Ma'am shared her experience as a teacher with us. She talked about the importance of thsi profession to the future generation as well as to the society. This was done by 10:30 am. The HM and the teachers were so approachable and friendly that they gave us permission to visit the classrooms for us to have an understanding about the functioning of the school. The school offered class from 1 to 12th and it have an attached pre-primary section. The medium of instruction was in Malayalam. The school had proper toilet facilities, a good library and all the classes were technology oriented. Language labs and computer labs were operational.
Thus the school visit was one of the most chersihed and memorable moment of the whole field trip programme. It has given us an opportunity to understand the atmosphere of a school and provided scope for getting to know more about teaching , classrooms etc
.
From the school we headed to Neyyar Dam. Built in the year 1958 the Neyyar Dam is a part of the adjoining Wildlife Sanctuary. We reached the place by 11:00 am . On our way to the top of the dam we saw many sculptures of kathakali, dance form of Kerala, a farmer, a house boat etc. These things would take us to the roots of the Kerala culture. We reached the top of the class and it was exquisite view full of greenery. The peak Agastya is very near to Neyyar Dam. From there we went to the crocodile park were we saw many crocodiles and alligators. This crocodile park was named after late Steve Irwin, the Australian animal expert .The visit to the park was a memorable experience and a thought on the reasons of animal extinction. Altogether the visit to Neyyar Dam has reminded of the artistic psyche and the architectural ideas people had way back in 1950's. This location made all of us felt oneness with nature and we thoroughly enjoyed and observed this place.
By 1:50pm we all got back to the bus and from there we went straight to The Deer Rehabilitation Centre. The Deer Rehabilitation centre has a concrete enlave where deer are rehabilitated and the let free into the forest. It was a very eco-friendly atmosphere. After spending some quality time there we got back to our bus to reach our final destination The Elephant Rehabilitation Centre at Kottoor.
We reached kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation centre by 2:55pm. The Elephant Rehabilitation Centre kottoor is located in the forest area of Mannorkaru village, Kattakada taluk, We saw about 15 to 16 elephants from different age groups. The baby elephants were so adorable and it was so amazing to watch how the mother elephants took care of their babies. Some names of elephants were Raju, Kalyani and Poorna. Elephants are such a gentle creature they are higly sensitive and caring animals much like humans only and also they have deep family bonds. It was a memorable experience there.
After watching all these by 4:00 pm we got back to the bus and started our journey back to the college. Bus journey was also very exciting because we danced and enjoyed alot in the bus. By 6:30pm we reached our college and from there we all headed back to our homes. Altogether it was a wonderful experience for all of us. This field trip gave a cherishable memory for all of us , it also made us to think more about the sustentation of nature, love for other living beings. This journey also helped to create a good rapport with students and teachers. We made Itvara a splendid and unforgettable one.
